camping
This weekend, a group of my friends and I, along with 2 teachers went hiking right after homecoming. We rushed home right after to take showers and finish packing and met up to leave for the Sipsey wilderness. After a two hour drive, we hiked in the dark with headlamps to our campsite, where we set up our tents and put on layers of clothes to stay warm. Due to no rain lately, we were not allowed to start a fire :( But after a long day, we were ready for sleep. The next morning, we hiked 3 miles to Big Tree, the biggest poplar in Alabama, 25 feet wide and 150 feet tall. After arriving, we ate lunch and Ms. Oswalt got out our "art supplies.....in the woods" as Hagan says. After hiking 6 miles and wondering if we'd ever see camp again, we finally arrived right before dark and began making dinner. The next morning we woke up cold so attempted to warm our hands with tea candles with little success. We did learn though not to pour water on candles to try to put them out though :)
Sadly, we had to leave that morning to head back to Columbus to work on our I.B. History internal assessments...bumper. But overall, it was a great trip and a lot of fun! I hope we all get to go back again in the spring before we graduate.
